We British love our 3 pin plug and i doubt we will ever give it up. Also yes we part of the EU but we too love our Pound (£) too.
Regards the “third party” mentioned in the report what the correct term is “Notified Body (NB)”, not just anyone can become a NB. NB’s have to full fill certain requirements in particular field of activity:
ISO 17020 General Criteria for the Operation of Various Types of Bodies Performing Inspection
ISO 17021 Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems
ISO 17022 Conformity assessment — Minimum requirements and additional recommendations for content of a third-party audit report on management systems
ISO 17023: General requirements for bodies operating assessment and certification/ registration of quality system
ISO/IEC 17024 for the certification of persons’ competence.
ISO 17025:2005 – General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
Status of a NB is given via the govenoring body of the member state for example the UK governoring body empower UKAS (United Kingdom Accrediation Service) to undertake audting activties of the NB’s in accordance with the above standards to ensure that expertise, competence and system is in place.
So please be aware that that when ever third party is mention actual referrs to an Notifed Body who have to be registered within the EU and has a unique NB number British Standards Institution (BSI) being 0086. So at times you will see a CE mark with the NB’s number underneath who did the certification.
